Tea Tray

Morning, I love living just down the road from Crafters Companion Chesterfield Store (although my bank balance would disagree 😆.  I attended a class by the fabulous Sarah-Lou making a lined tea tray.  These classes are a fantastic of trying something new and learning new skills and developing existing skills.  Its also a great way to meet other crafty individuals.

I have used the Tea Party set and Tea Cups set of stamps by Crafters Companion.

We stamped on to Leatherette from the Threaders Range using Black Stazon ink.  To help stamp I used the Tim Holtz Stamping Platform (There are other makes of Stamping tools that you can use).  Due to the ink "sticking" to the leatherette when opening the lid, I had to hold down the leatherette and slowly lift the lid of the platform.

Before stamping my images I placed the leatherette inside the tray and drew round the edges (you cant really see from this picture) so I could see how I was filling the area and also aid in fitting the liner into the tray when finished.  Before stamping I also laid out my stamps so I could see how it would look.  I was so worried about getting my sentiment the right way round I didn't see that my butterfly was drunk! 😂

Next I painted the Tray with acrylic paint.  Picked silver to go with my bedroom decor.  The tray was then set aside to dry while I coloured my stamped images.

The images were coloured using Illustrator by Spectrum Noir.  As many of you know these are alcohol pens and you normally wouldn't using Stazon ink for stamping as the alcohol in the pens move the ink around.  I was really worried about this next part as my coloring skills are not the best.  Sarah-Lou at CC has been very helpful over the past few months with her hints and tips on colouring on lots of different mediums.  Sarah-Lou creates fabulous art work on all sorts of mediums, even shoes! Check out her Facebook Page  www.facebook.com/anaradesignsbysarahlou/

The colours used were
Ice Grey IG6
Gold GY3
Smoky Blue VB1
Lavender LV1
Amethyst LV3
Chartreuse LG1
Meadow LG3

I chose these colours so that my images had a muted look and trying to keep the "vintage" feel of the stamps.  I also "grounded" the tea pot and cups by using the Light Grey and a blender pen.

I'm really pleased with my colouring and I really feel I`m really getting the hang of it now.

Bye for now S & K

WOW what a busy Weekend!

Hi There,
We are a mum and daughter duo who are learning as we go and have found a love of craft.
This is our blog on our crafty journey.

We have had such a busy weekend!

It started of on Saturday by going to the NEC for the Creative Craft show, followed by Miss Ks birthday party on the Sunday.

We had a brilliant day at the NEC and we shopped till we dropped.  We brought some new stamps and stencils, Groovi accessories and bits and bobs.

Our first stop was the Clarity Stamp Stand to see the fabulous Barbara Gray and her team.  We were able to see her demostaring and took part in a Groovi Make and Take session.

The highlight for Miss K was sitting in Barbara`s chair for a picture.

Miss K also meet the talented Jane Telford

The Smile says it all!

After the make and take we went to see the rest of the show and watched Wendy from Card-io Stamps.  I treated myself to the Balloon stamps.  We went to see Emma and Deby from Inkylicious demonstrating their fabulous new stamps and Miss K feel in love with the Unicorn Stamp.

Miss K also got to met another crafty favourite of hers

Leonie Pujol.

Miss K also won big on the Hochanda Tombola

All in all a brilliant day.

The Sunday was also a brilliant day despite the snow.  Miss Ks birthday party was a crafting party at Crafters Companion Chesterfield.
It was a Unicorn Themed party.

The girls had so much fun decorating paper mache letters and turning them in to unicorns!

There was also unicorn cupcakes and gift bags!

The gift bags were very easy to decorate and came from the range £2.50 for five and the tissue paper £1.99 for a pack of 10 sheets.
To decorate the gifts I used distress Oxide inks and a unicorn stamp!
I will post a tutorial on the gift bags.

Bye for now
