Crazy Concertina Card

Hi thanks for stopping by again.

We have had a lovely weekend doing a couple of classes down at Crafters Companion https://www.crafterscompanion.co.uk/chesterfield-store

I know we have said this before but we are very lucky to have a fantastic craft store right on our door step.

On saturday Morning Miss K attended the launch of issue 18 of the Crafters Inspiration magazine and made a couple of cards using the free gifts.

The background was done using the new Spectrum Noir Aquatints and glycerin.  The heart shaped die is the Rustic Heart that complements Sara Davies Rustic Wedding collection.  Its a two part die that can be used to cut into the card stock or out of the card stock.  The coloured card was from the Flutterby range by Sara Davies.

On the sunday I got a few child free hours and went to class my self. This was a class by Debbie and we did a crazy concertina card.  I have never made any thing so complicated before but i was surprised how easy it was.

The basic card is completed, I just need to decorate it.

To make the base card you will need:-

Big Score by Crafters Companion and scoring tool,
Craft Knife and steel rule,
Red Line Tape,
Wet Glue,
Base card in your choice of colour, I used Ivory,
2 Pieces of card 12" x 8",
2 pieces of card 4" x 8",
2 Pieces of card 6" x 8",
For the Matting layer I used back card,
6 Pieces 7 3/4" x 3 3/4,
2 Pieces 7 3/4" x 1 3/4",
2 Pieces 3 3/4" x 3 3/4",
8 Pieces 1 3/4" x 1 3/4",
8 Pieces 3 3/4 x 1 3/4.

You need the Big Score on the inches side and working from the box lid side. Take one piece of the 12" x 8" card and place the shortest edge up against the box lid side on the Big Score.

Score at 2", 4", 8" and 10"
Turn the card around and place longest side against the box lid and score at the 2". Only score the inner panels and not the outer two.
Spin the card round and score again at the 2" mark.  These will become your cut lines.

Now you need to use your craft knife and steel ruler and cut along these last two score lines that you made.

Repeat above process on the second Piece of 12" X 8" card.

Take the two Pieces of 6" x 8" card and place the longest side up against the box lid side and again score at 2".  Fold and burnish these crease.

Take your two pieces of 12" x 8" card and fold and burnish the score lines as follows:-

2" Valley fold,
4" Mountain fold,
8" Valley fold,
10" Mountain fold.

Then you need to fold the panels in any way you wish for the card to look when opened, just remember to make sure both pieces are identical.  Fix both pieces together using the 4" x 8" pieces of card.  One on the front and one at the back.  For this I used red line tape.

Once both pieces are joined, take the 6" x 8" Pieces of card and attach one piece to each side of the card.  Using red line tape fix the 2" panel to the back of the card to match up with the 2" panel.

Now matt the black pieces of card on to the panels.

Now its ready for decorating with your choice of patterned/coloured papers and layer on top of the black. To get a nice border reduce the black card measurements by a 1/4" on all sides.
When I have decorated mine I will post a completed picture.

Hope to see you again

Birthday Card

Hi
S&K here again.

Just a short one tonight.  Miss K has been practicing her Groovi skills. She is a Diamond member of the Clarity New Design Club, which means each month she receives a new Stamp, Stencil and Groovi plate.

She has been practicing her letters and numbers so they came out the right way on her Parchment.

She made a card for her friends birthday using the new club plate.

The backing paper was made using SN Sparkle Pens and attached using mini brads.

Thanks for stopping by,
See you soon

Party Gift Bags

Hi, Its S and K here

It’s raining, grey, cold and miserable here on this April Wednesday morning. I thought it was supposed to be spring!

Anyway has promised here is a step by step on how we made the gift bags for Miss Ks birthday party.

The bags started life as plain white and came in a pack of five for £2.50 from the Range.

We finally got to play with our Distress Oxides.  The colours we used were:-
Picked Rasberry
Cracked Pistachio
Salty Ocean
Seedless Preserves
But this technique works with any combination of colours.  The nice thing about the Distress Oxides is that they colours don't seem to muddy when they overlay, unlike other types of ink.

The first thing we did was to splodge the first ink on to the craft mat and then spritz with water from the mister bottle.

Miss K used a couple of sprtiz

The water then beads on top.

Next we then picked up the ink directly from the mat with the bag.  Changing the position of the bag each time to build up a random pattern.

We did this for each colour.

We then die cut a heart shape and the Unicorn from "Believe in Unicorns" by Visible Image was stamped in Black Memento.  The hearts edges were inked with one colour of the Distress Oxides.  The hearts were fixed to the front of the bags using 3D Pinflair glue.

Each bag was finished off with pink and white hearts tissue paper £.99p from the Range, and some metallic ribbon to hold on the label.  The label was stamped  with the saying "Anything is possible if you Believe"

The bags were then filled with crafting goodies for the girls.

We had a lot of fun doing these.
See you next time S and K
